Our 2017 Fashion Week Predictions
New York Fashion Week is almost upon us, and that only signals the launch of the 2017 fashion events calendar. Following on from New York, there’ll be London, Milan and Paris making up the big four.
In case you haven’t noticed, we’re quite big fans of fashion here at Madame Tussauds Blackpool. After all, we are lucky to have our very own resident expert here in the form of Gok Wan! He keeps us updated with the latest trends and what’s hot in the industry, so we like to think we know a thing or two.
With that in mind, we’ve channeled our inner-Gok and come up with some fashionable predictions on what to expect from these fabulous events and we’ve rounded up some of the best autumn/winter 2017 collections to look out for.
New York Fashion Week - Thursday 9th to Thursday 16th February
Kicking off the season, it’s inevitable that New York Fashion Week is going to be a spectacle and we’re hoping it brings everything we’ve ever wanted!
Jeremy Scott, designer to the stars including the likes of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, will be revealing his latest outfits. His spring 2017 collection was heavily based on ′80s New Wave, so could his autumn/winter looks follow this trend? We’re certainly hoping so!
Also keep an eye out for Mac Duggal, who has designed dresses for the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Eva Longoria. His runway show promises to be inclusive and will be showcasing models in a diverse range of sizes - marking an important step towards progression in the industry. Girl power!
London Fashion Week - Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st February
Over 70 different designers are set to showcase their autumn/winter 2017 collections, but who will stand out?
Expect dazzling presentations from Sadie Williams, Roberta Einer and Natasha Zinko. Meanwhile, famous brands including Mulberry, Topshop, Burberry and House of Holland will be unveiling their latest looks.
We’re most excited to see what Versus Versace has to show off. The second brand from the house of Versace have just announced a collaboration with Zayn Malik, previously from One Direction. Could he perhaps make an appearance too? The brand is all about embodying the spirit of being young and alive, so expect rebellious colours and prints that dare you to stand out from the crowd.
Milan Fashion Week - Wednesday 22nd to Tuesday 28th February
Milan has been at the forefront of many fashion trends throughout the years, so all eyes will be on what their 2017 showcase can offer. If it’s anything like the menswear show in January, we're in for a real treat.
The line-up hasn’t been fully confirmed yet, but expect some of the biggest fashion brands in the world to make an appearance including Paul Smith, Gucci and Bally. They will all be showcasing both their men's and women's collections during single presentations.
Vivienne Westwood will also show off her autumn/winter collection, which was recently unveiled in London. The collection is a sophisticated '70s chic that features cotton crowns - a nod to those leading the world.
Paris Fashion Week - Tuesday 28th February to Wednesday 8th March
The last of the big four starts at the very end of February in the French capital, but who will be there?
We’ve got French faves such as Céline and André Courrèges making a showstopping appearance. You’ll also be able to see the latest collections from some of the most renowned fashion designers around the world.
The line-up reads as a who’s who in the fashion world, including Valentino, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Christian Dior, Paco Rabanne and Louis Vuitton - to name but a few.
